The Grad Talks series encompass a wide range of talks and panels by graduate students at UofT about their experiences before, during, and after grad school. Get your burning grad school questioned answered! All students considering graduate school, particularly research-based graduate school programs are encouraged to drop-in!

👥 Donna did her Bachelor of Science here at the University of Toronto, double-majoring in Cell & Systems Biology and Ecology & Evolutionary Biology. She is currently a 2nd year CSB Master's student working in the Harris Lab and Bruce Lab, studying developmental biology. Her current research uses the zebrafish model to investigate how epithelial tissues elongate and how their cellular junctions are remodelled during this movement. She has plans to transfer to the CSB PhD program, and is excited to chat about her experiences in grad school so far.
👥 Amar is currently a Data Analyst at the University of Toronto. He completed both an undergraduate and Master's degree (course-based) in Statistics at UofT. Amar applied the skills he gained from grad school for data analytics, modelling, and software development in his current role.
👥 Jacqueline is currently pursuing a Master of Global Affairs at the University of Toronto Munk School. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto, where she double majored in Human Geography and Environmental Studies, minored in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and obtained the Certificate in Sustainability Pathways. Her career goal is to work in the environmental field, where she can contribute to the development and implementation of effective environmental and sustainability strategies and policies to address the pressing global challenge of climate change.

<aside> 🎓

👥 Julianna completed her Master’s in Developmental Psychology at the University of Waterloo, where she explored children’s intuitive number sense and probabilistic reasoning. She also earned an Master’s in the School and Clinical Child Psychology (SCCP) program at OISE. Now, as a PhD student, her research focuses on children’s counterfactual thinking and emotions, and how these are linked to academic motivation. Outside of academia, Julianna enjoys roller skating, paddleboarding, and hiking in nature!
